An exploration of my formative experiences at my dad's garage, rooted in the essence of my childhood there and my present experiences learning to work there. Looking at work wear, but turning the aspect of a uniform into something opposite of that. Drawing from arts and crafts, inevitable wear with visible mending, and honoring work that I have seen for years around me. Playing with lines, fluidity, structure, and grids to create an organic sense of chaos.
Visible mended romper with hardware bolts in between box pleats, Sashiko embroidery, handmade “Caution” brass brooch, and industrial lifting belt hook closure.
Utility belt (mock skirt) that includes panels with several pockets, Sashiko embroidery, O-ring embroidery in the shape of UAE, velcro strap closure, and a draped detachable train.
